The Defense Department is placing greater emphasis on homeland defense.
The Pentagon has released its unclassified version of the National Defense Strategy (NDS), which places homeland defense as its number one priority. The plan highlights the need for allies to share more of the burden for global security and signals a possible reduction of the U.S. presence in Asia or Europe.
The top four priorities for the Pentagon, according to the updated strategy, are to defend the U.S. homeland, deter China “through strength, not confrontation,” increase the burden-sharing of defenses with U.S. allies and partners, and “supercharge” the U.S. Defense industrial base.
“After years of neglect, the United States will restore U.S. military dominance in the Western Hemisphere,” Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said last month. “We will use it to protect our homeland and access to key terrain throughout the region, we will also deny adversaries ability to position forces or other threatening capabilities in our hemisphere.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as he oversees the implementation of the United States’ defense strategy.
- For members of the Pentagon as they shift their priorities to align with the new National Defense Strategy.
- For God to guide President Trump as commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.
